CAFE-Pacific – Campaign interview with Philip Holzbeck

Memories of our research campaign CAFE-PACIFIC in Australia! In the video, Philip Holzbeck, a doctoral candidate at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, shares his experiences as an operator aboard the research aircraft HALO. Philip was involved in a total of six measurement flights. A typical flight day, including pre- and post-flight preparations, lasts around 8 to 10 hours, says Philip. An important part is the instrument check, which can take 2 to 4 hours. During the flight, the researchers keep track of their daily schedule and flight objectives, regularly staying in contact with their colleagues on the ground. After landing, data meetings follow, where the collected data is discussed.
