Exhausted, satisfied and with huge data sets in their bags,
most of the participants of the CAFE Brazil campaign
returned home at the end of January. Some had been
there since the beginning of the two-month expedition and
had spent the turn of the year south of the equator. Among
them is meteorologist Linda Ort from Horst Fischer‘s
working group. She was an operator in four of the 16 local
measurement flights with the HALO research aircraft.
For a total of 143 flight hours, Linda and the team col
lected data over the Amazon Basin to comprehensively
characterize atmospheric oxidation processes and their
control over the formation and growth of aerosol particles
in the troposphere
